About Ramona Bags

Hi, I'm Karen and this is Patricia, my mom.

Ramona Bags began as my mom's dream. She named it after my grandmother, Ramona, because it was the only name that felt right for the business she imagined: one built on creativity, handmade craftsmanship, and love. She also said that it was a good luck name.

I first learned to crochet as a creative outlet, but over time it became something much more meaningful. After my mom passed away in April 2026, creating with my hands became a way to feel close to her again. I continued learning through the videos she had recorded and the WhatsApp voice messages she had sent me over the years. When she was gone, she left behind unfinished projects, sketches, and countless ideas. Continuing what she started felt like the most meaningful way to honor her memory.

Today, I create handmade pieces between Peru, where I was born, and Canada, the country I chose to call home. While crochet is at the heart of my work, I also enjoy exploring other fiber arts and handmade crafts. Whenever possible, I use reclaimed fabric yarns and thoughtfully sourced materials because I believe beautiful things can come from materials that already have a story. It's my small way of embracing sustainability and giving textiles a second life.

I don't make products in large batches or in factories. Every piece is made by hand, one at a time, so no two are exactly alike. Those little differences are part of what makes handmade work so special.
